In world. grown-up females are overall the 1s searching for work powers to be their hubbies or child parents in law. That is other than valid for Lizzy as she discovers love and karma in the class of the novel. As the novel advances. this mockery will increase. In this exposition. the method of which issues, for example, the grown-up female request. class versatility and marriage are unexpectedly giggled then again of rebelliously fighting about them will be investigated. unconventionally in Elizabeth Bennetââ¬â¢s encounters. Indeed, even in the novelââ¬â¢s first sentence. one could see the finishes of grown-up females in the public eye at that cut. The finish of about each grown-up female so was to get hitched a rich grown-up male and do her young ladies wed rich work powers. Womans were simply planned to charm work powers. In one drawing room discussion at Netherfield. Caroline Bingley records the highlights of a total grown-up female: must hold an intensive cognizance of music. vocalizing. pulling. moving. also, the cutting edge phonetic correspondences. to justify the word ; what's more this. she should have a specific something in her air and method of strolling. the tone of her voice. her reference and looks [ â⬠¦ ] ( 29 ) . Prior to that occasion. perusers are given a look of Charlotteââ¬â¢s positions on marriage: Bliss in marriage is entirely an issue of chance. Elizabeth snickers at those issues however as she encounters them she can non deny that those issues are existent in her universe. At the focal point of the novel. she discovers that she is blinded by inclination. with the goal that she could non really approach the issues that encompass all her bits equitably as she suspected: How wretchedly have I acted! [ â⬠¦ ] But love propre. non love. has been my indiscretion. [ â⬠¦ ] Till this moment. I neer knew myself ( 159 ) . Her feeling of vision was addressed. so she needed to reevaluate her slants of about everything. At the point when Lydia was welcomed by Mrs. Encourage. she articles to her fatherââ¬â¢s assurance. seeing Lydiaââ¬â¢s disgrace all the more unmistakably. In Derbyshire. she comes face to face non simply with ââ¬Å"his excellent confirmations of Pemberleyâ⬠( 286 ) yet adjacent to the universe of his classification. She came to perceive that ââ¬Å"to be the kept lady of Pemberley must be somethingâ⬠( 185 ) . Lydiaââ¬â¢s elopement with Wickham simply turned into the finishing up hit to her. pressuring her to truly observe her associations. Given all of Elizabethââ¬â¢s encounters. the cutting edge peruser would almost certainly ask if these exercises are as yet pertinent in the 20Thursdaycentury. since numerous chick-lit creators, for example, Helen Fielding draw motivation from this novel. Conceivably one could state ââ¬Å"yesâ⬠to that. There is as yet an evaluation of predisposition in all habits of guidance. indeed, even in this post-Holocaust universe. In any case, in any event. in this age. numerous individuals are more mindful of predisposition and its belongings than in Jane Austenââ¬â¢s cut. The issues referenced here are taken all the more genuinely. Really. issues, for example, the grown-up female request. classification versatility and marriage are discovered amusingly silly in this novel. However, subsequent to perusing this novel. the peruser. like Elizabeth. is other than compelled to oppugn his feeling of vision and inclination. As the peruser thinks about this. one may non accept this issue of predisposition ludicrous by any stretch of the imagination. Plants Cited â⬠.Pride and Prejudice. Ed. James Kinsley. Euthanasia and Christian Beliefs Essay -- Euthanasia Mercy Death Healt
Killing Killing is characterized in the Chamberââ¬â¢s English Dictionary as ââ¬Å" the demonstration or practice of putting somebody effortlessly, or as tenderly as could be expected under the circumstances, to deathâ⬠. There are different types of Euthanasia, which I should disclose before alluding to the lessons of the distinctive Christian divisions. The most widely recognized of them is Voluntary Euthanasia, where the patient chooses for themselves, that they would want to be dead. They may choose at that point, or maybe they may have composed a ââ¬Ëliving willââ¬â¢ educating specialists to slaughter them on the off chance that they are ever in a circumstance where they will never be cognizant again. There is likewise In-deliberate Euthanasia, were another person rules against the patientââ¬â¢s wishes that would be in an ideal situation dead, and authorizes it in the demonstration of murdering them. Along these lines it is regularly clobbered as Euthanasia, since it isn't ââ¬Ëgentleââ¬â¢. Non-willful Euthanasia happens in a circumstance where the patient can't be asked, or all the more effectively, can't reply. This might be on the grounds that the casualty is an infant and canâ⠬â¢t talk yet, or maybe the casualty is in a state of extreme lethargy and can't react to individuals around him, yet for this situation a family member or specialist will choose for the individual. It is likewise critical to recognize the contrast between murdering somebody (Active), and allowing them to pass on (Passive). Slaughtering an individual is communicated in an activity. A case of this, would be a specialist infusing his patient with a toxic substance. While allowing somebody to kick the bucket, is communicated in not playing out an activity. A case of this would be a specialist not providing his patient with drugs that would spare his life, and therefore the patientââ¬â¢s life is abbreviated. I will set, talk about, lastly assess a discussion about Voluntary Euthanasia utilizing settings from both the Roman Catholic Church, and the Church of England. A portion of the key impacts I will allude to are Natural Law, Situation Ethics, Doctrine of Double Effect, The Golden Rule, Church records, and the Bible. Disregarding all strict perspectives, a contention for Voluntary Euthanasia performed by somebody other than the patient, is that it is just ââ¬Ëmercy killingââ¬â¢. This would, under general Christian perspectives, be on the grounds that it was a demonstration of affection, and after all that is the thing that Christianity rotates around. One inquiry, that must be addressed is, ââ¬ËIs there a distinction among slaughtering and allowing somebody to pass on, with regards to an argu... ...f the family would endure because of his demise, at that point he ought not bite the dust in an unnatural manner. In any case, all things considered, they will be enduring with him, and will feel the help in the event that he doesn't, and they don't need to watch him, live any more extended in his excruciating condition. If so, at that point they ought to back his sentiments, and give him their help. It has been said that despite the fact that the earth doesn't have a place with the individuals, God created people to settle on their own choices on it. Accordingly on account of willful killing, there is no uncertainty that the end choice must be made by the patient, and not the specialist. In the event that the patient is in a determined vegetative state, at that point the intrigue for his passing, falls into the non-willful class, and is of no difficulty to my decision. As I have said as of now, the fifth decree is tending to the point of killing guiltless individuals. Murder is the point at which one individual purposefully slaughters another without lawful defense or reason. On the off chance that killing was legitimized, at that point it would not formally be murder. In such a case, a Christian would not be disregarding the fifth precept, and there would be no motivation behind why he was unable to be a supporter.

Risk of Money Market Mutual Funds Research Paper - 8250 Words
Risk of Money Market Mutual Funds (Research Paper Sample) Content: Risk of Money Market Mutual FundsProfessors NameName of StudentDate [Abstract]Presented is an analysis of the money market fund risks with respect to the recent 2007/2010 financial crisis. One of the most stable investment options to date, the turmoil within the MMF was a surprise to majority of investors, bringing to question the safety of the fund. Reviewing background research and a comprehensive literature review, the paper utilizes a qualitative research to analyze six key parameters: Sponsors business concerns, the role of financial strength, flow performance relationship, the role played by retail money market funds, business concerns and risk taking. Primary results indicate that, following the 2008 financial meltdown, the treasury, for the first time in history, had trusted a single product and a single industry. Using a qualitative methodology, the paper validates the six parameters with the role played by sponsors, expansion of risk taking opportunities and individual MMFs financial strength being key to eventual successes. 1.0 Introduction Across decades, the safety of the Money Market Mutual funds, also known as the Money Market Fund (MMF), has been unquestioned due to its tradition of investing in multiple safe, higher yielding financial options. As a result, they have enjoyed a significant market success owing to their safety, conservative nature and stable interest rates (RBC 2). The 2008 financial crisis, however, subjected the fund to a major test eliciting controversial debates about its safety. The failure of the Lehman Brothers, a major broker and dealer on September 15th 2008 created panic resulting in a massive flight by institutional investors who were out to cut their losses. For the very first time, the future of the fund was at stake and the federal government, to save the fund, put forth a number of measures. Years after the crisis, options are still under consideration: whether to continue regulating the mutual fun ds under federal legislation while tightening the standard; to subject all money market mutual funds to regulation similar to banks or to allow mutual funds have fluctuating net asset values depending on the directions of the market. Money market mutual funds have relatively lower risks comparative to other mutual funds or most of other investments. They have proved to be valuable cash management instruments for both individual and group investors. Legally, mutual funds can only invest in specific short-term, high quality investments issued by U.S corporations, U. S federal government or the state and local governments. In essence, money market funds often try to maintain their Net Asset Value (NAV), the value representative of one share in the fund, at a generally stable price of $1 per share. A fall in the NAV value to less than $1 is indicative of the funds poor performance. It is noteworthy to state that, until now, with the exception of certain isolated cases investment losses have been rare. 1.1 Call for Concern The United States has the largest Mutual Fund and by extension, the largest money market mutual fund in the world (See Appendix 1). The tumult within the money market fund was a surprise to majority of investors and other money market participants. Prior to the period, investors agreed that MMFs had very low potential risk investment and were almost as secure as cash deposits. In the entire history of the money market funds, nearly all investments had been on very safe assets that generated consistent returns similar to the securities issued by the US treasury. The sudden increase in money market funds returns in the early periods of the financial crisis brought to question the safety of the fund. This is because; money market funds are large financial intermediaries that play a critical role in the financial stability in the US. They are, at present, the largest short-term financers of the U.S. economy, the largest provider of liquidity to Amer ican corporation and their size is equivalent to equity mutual funds. MMFs often rely on runs in order to mitigate any threats, with the sponsors being large financial institutions that have the responsibility of managing funds on behalf of investors (See Appendix 3). Investors tend to feel secure since it is their expectation that the sponsors will financially support the fund in case of a failure even though there is no contractual agreement between the sponsors and the funds. The agreement are therefore, only reputational in nature without which the sponsor could lose a lot of business in its investment banking, commercial banking or insurance operations. 1.2 Money Market Fund: Overview Money Market mutual funds emerged in the 1970s as viable alternatives to the more understood bank deposits. During the period, bank deposits paid very low interest rate compared to other money market instruments. This made the funds very attractive to investors who received relatively higher inte rest while taking only comparable risk. Even with the eventual abolition of regulations, which characterized bank deposits, the money market fund continued to grow exponentially reaching a whopping $2.4 trillion by the year 2007. Compared to the bank deposits, money market funds are uninsured by the government. This implies that even though the funds tend to preserve their asset values, investors might still have losses. In order to limit risks within the money market mutual fund, all holdings are regulated under Rule 2a (7) of the 1940 Investment Company Act (RBC 12).The regulation offer restrictions to all funds holding short-term assets preventing them from purchasing long-term assets such as corporate bonds, equity or mortgage-backed securities. It further requires all short term debt to have high levels of credit quality. The regulation further requires portfolio diversification hence money market funds are expected not to have more than 5% of their assets invested in securitie s of one issuer having the highest rating (RBC 12). They must also not hold more than 1% of their assets with any other individual issuer. Prime money market fund are known to invest in a variety of high quality money market instruments such as corporate debt obligations, bank securities, taxable municipal obligations, U.S government securities, repurchase agreements and certificates of deposits. The eligible securities in which the fund invests must have received at least of the two highest ratings from two recognized statistical rating organization such as Fitch Ratings Ltd., Financial Services LLC (SP) or Moodys Investors Service Inc.2.0. Literature Review 2.1 MMF Prior to the financial Crisis Data provided by iMoneyNet serves to illustrate the different market instruments held by money market mutual funds. Focusing on the taxable funds which account for 84.5% of the funds mutual funds, it is evident that as of January 2006, there existed 485 taxable money market funds and 148 sp onsoring companies with a total asset value of 1.67 trillion (iMoneyNet 1). 23.8% of this (estimated at $396 billion) were held by Treasury funds, which specifically hold government backed agency debt, repurchase agreements and government debt. The remaining 76.2% of the total assets valued at $1.26 trillion were invested in prime funds some of which invest in non-government assets. Of the prime funds, 43% were retail funds while the remaining 57%, prime funds. During the period, the largest asset class was the commercial paper, which accounted for 25.6% of the total assets valued at $325.3 billion (iMoneyNet 1). Other asset classes included floating-rate notes valued at $265.9 billion, asset backed commercial paper at $186.3 billion, bank obligations at $235.3 billion, repurchase agreements at $151.1 billion, and government backed agency debt and government debt at $62.5 billion and bank deposits valued at $39.4 billion (iMoneyNet 1). Prior to the financial crisis, the 20 largest financial institutions, which managed mutual funds, accounted for $429 billion worth of assets. The largest fund was under JPMorgan Prime money, which managed $68.1 billion while the second and the third largest were Columbia Cash Reserves and BlackRock Liquidity funds respectively (iMoneyNet 1). Even the lowest managing fund within the top 20 list still managed a sizable $12.6 billion worth of asset. It is noteworthy to state that on average, the funds were well diversified with assets in virtually all sectors of the industry. A combination of bank obligations, financial commercial paper, repurchase agreements and structured securities totalled to 91% of the total money market funds.Source: The graph shows the turbulent period, a sudden drop from $3.92 to $3.27 Trillion in February 2008 resulting from massive losses in the prevailing risk taking opportunities. Depicting the total net assets with respect to the number of money market funds, it is evident that there was a steep ri se in the total net assets between the first of February 2008 and the first of February 2009 from $3.15 Trillion to $3.925 Trillion. This was followed by a massive drop in the total net assets held by the funds from 3.925 trillion to 3.27 Trillion between February 1st and December 2nd 2009. The number of Money Market Mutual Funds was relatively stable before the financial crisis, peaking at 2, 078 as at 10th, February 2008. This however declined to 1828 as at December 2, 2009, representative of 12% of the total number of funds in February 2008. The graph indicates that after September 2008, Money market mutual funds experienced considerable decline in both their sheer numbers and the total net assets they held. This was as a result of the significant withdrawals of funds by investors following the AIG bailout and the Lehman Brothers bankruptcy. As represented by the massive decline in the fund...

Essays on What are some of the main difficulties faced by women lawyers in Canada, and what can be done to make it easier for women lawyers to succeed Essay Main Difficulties Faced by Women Lawyers in Canada, and What Can be Done to Make it Easier for Women Lawyers to Succeed Main Difficulties Faced by Women Lawyers in Canada, and What Can be Done to Make it Easier for Women Lawyers to SucceedIntroduction Conceivably the highly dramatic change occurring in the labor market for lawyers over the past twenty years or so is the fast increase of the number of women in the profession. However, their numerical increase has not resulted to a corresponding increase in power, income and status from the profession. Women lawyers in Canada have faced and indeed continue to encounter various challenges in their professional endeavors as discussed hereunder.Main Difficulties Faced By Women Lawyers in CanadaThe issue of motherhood and marriage life is one challenge facing women in the legal profession. This is because it has led to women receiving less amount of pay compared to men under same conditions of work. This is based on the discrimination of w omen as it is assumed that they work less as they are tied to family issues according to Kaye and Reddy (2008). It is argued that mothers and married women work for fewer hours as lawyers, and in most cases do not work on fulltime bases hence the discrimination in terms of payment. Secondly, women lawyers face difficulties in their profession due to pregnancy. Women lawyers have faced the difficulty of getting recruited in law firms due to gender discrimination based on pregnancy. When women get pregnant, they experience bodily changes both physically and psychologically, and this is likely to interfere with their profession activities. In this respect, when they get pregnant, they are required to take a break from work. As a result they end up having little to do for their profession at this time of their life, and this is a challenge to the law firms they work for.Thirdly, women lawyers face difficulties by being proportionally underrepresented in private sector practice and overr epresented in government, public defender, corporate/private industry and legal aid work. Despite this, in organizations within which women are presented, they are usually concentrated in the bottom positions in terms of status and income. In private practice, women are underrepresented in the ranks of supervisor, partner and general counsel.Yet again, women in the legal profession face denial of the rights and are in most cases loaded with responsibilities on gender basis. Women lawyers are not being given equal opportunities for growth compared to their male counterparts. Women, as a result, tend to be given office work and are denied the chance engage in the real practice of their profession. This is because they are regarded as weak and highly emotional compared to men. Finally, another difficulty facing women lawyers in Canada is the issue of sexual harassment and humiliation during court proceedings as suggested by Morton (2002). Sometimes the women lawyers are threatened of se xual harassment even by their clients and even by fellow lawyers. This has led to less women engaging in this profession. What Can Be Done To Make It Easier For Women Lawyers to SucceedThe establishment of women rights organizations which fight for the rights of women lawyers against discrimination may be a step toward winning the war for women in the legal profession. These organizations should enact provisions which will help in protecting women in this profession. Moreover, such existing firms should adopt more provocative measures to ensue that women who face these difficulties do not leave the profession but are given appropriate support. Womenââ¬â¢s organizations such as the Womenââ¬â¢s Law Association have emerged in order to help women counter these difficulties according to Abel and Lewis (1995). Another way to counter the difficulties faced by female lawyers is by establishing counseling and mentorship programs in their favor. Through these programs, women lawyers sho uld be encouraged to face such difficulties with determination since some of them like family issues are hard to avoid. Women lawyers should be counseled on how to balance their family life and work life in order to succeed.Women also need to adopt social networks which will enable them understand how to handle their clients and fellow lawyers. In such a case, women lawyers will be able to fight against sexual harassment and other humiliating behaviors in court proceedings. This is because the social networks help women lawyers in establishing and maintaining important relationships with fellow lawyers and clients. The government should enact provisions which are against the discrimination of women in legal firms. This will ensure that women recruited in the law firms are treated similarly with men. This will lead women toward high motivation at work in the legal field leading to a successful career.ConclusionIn conclusion women lawyers in Canada have been facing difficulties in thei r profession and this is mostly due to the factors outlined above. This has led to a situation whereby women are losing interest in the profession and many who study law do not end up working as legal experts. ReferencesKaye,J.S. Reddy, A.C. (2008).
